Why the weird title? Well, a good friend and I are planning a glorious masquerade skit. It'll be a song and dance ectravaganza to Elton John's "Better off Dead." My friend will be playing the part of Mrs. Lovett, I'm going to be Angelina Durless (the psycho bitch responsible for the Jack the Ripper murders according to a particular graphic novel/animated series). We're starting to piece together our choreography, and the ideas we have would be greatly inhanced by either a third murderer or a victim.
Here's what I'm looking for:
-Must have costuming experience and be willing to make your own costume. I hate to sound arrogant or elitist on this one, but we've had this in the works for a while and would at least like somebody around our own skill level (feel free to poke around my journal to get an idea of what that is, most of it is sewing stuff). Beginners are welcome, but I'd perfer to work with a beginner who has some experience under their belt, knows how to make things fit, etc. Photos of some of your creations would be extremely helpful!
I'd also like to point out that (as it now stands) we'll be in the novice category, so by no means do we need a professional tailor.
-Must be willing to research and impliment period methods/techniques...at least to some extent. I don't mean that you have to hand sew the whole thing, or use an antique seweing machine, not use a serger on raw edges, or even use all natural fibers (though I reccommend it , poly sucks to wear). I mean things like proper undergarments, seam placement etc. I can help point you in the right direction if you have no idea where to start.
And, finally, a few not required but perfered things:
-In/near/willing to get to the Pioneer Valley. otherwise I can't promise that there will be much room for you to have creative voice in the piece as a whole, or that we'll have a chance to practice as a whole group prior to the night before.
-Some dance experience. Definitely not required, and "I did the musicals in highschool" is plenty.
thanks for reading this!
